The organisation

Our home base is the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC) Maastricht, which is the central point of contact in Europe for After-Sales, caring for the needs of current and prospective Mercedes-Benz customers. Beyond this responsibility, we also steer and further develop the global Customer Contact Centers (CCC) of Mercedes-Benz for After-Sales and Sales.

The function

In this job, you are part of Project Management & Digitalization team and work in the capacity as Portfolio Management Office lead.


Our business projects and epics aim at delivering contact center solutions. Currently, most projects are managed following a waterfall methodology – however, with the ongoing Lean Agile Transformation, elements of Lean Portfolio Management are incorporated as well. The PMO team ensures that these projects and epics are executed in a consistent, transparent and professional way. Your main role as PMO lead is to maintain a strategic epic roadmap, and manage the overall portfolio as well as the transformation from a PMO to a Lean Portfolio Management Office. A key responsibility is to engage with higher leadership about the progress of the portfolio towards strategic objectives as well as facilitate sustainable portfolio resource and budget management.

Our epics are executed by cross-functional business teams as well as an Agile Release Train when it comes to software development. In your role, you are able to identify key topics and risks to the epics and ensure transparency of the portfolio status in the relevant management meetings. A methodological approach and understanding of project management is important, in order to maintain a sustainable portfolio that is aligned with the company´s strategy.

Your tasks & responsibilities will be:

  • Lead and coordinate the Portfolio Office Management to achieve the strategic business benefits.
  • Apply strategies focused on delivering maximum business value, bringing in transparency, creating awareness and supporting leadership for decision-making regarding solutions concerning portfolio challenges.
  • Ensure the portfolio governance model is followed by all relevant stakeholders.
  • Safeguard the selection and prioritization of epics suitable for the business needs.
  • Monitor the achievement of Objective and Key Results (OKRs) from the company strategy by creating own reporting dashboards; create transparency and support relevant stakeholders to make data-driven decisions.
  • Facilitate the adoption of the portfolio kanban policies and practices, as well as a sustainable portfolio resource and budget management.
  • Large and complex stakeholder management (internal/external).
  • Identify and help in executing continuous improvements to the portfolio practices.
  • Ability to collaborate and engage with various stakeholder groups from executive leadership teams to operational teams.
  • Build own network to generate support and activate stakeholders throughout the organization and external suppliers.
  • Understand the principles of change management, know how to deal with resistance and be able to lead and influence in a constructive and engaging way.
  • Advise higher leadership with regards to the portfolio planning.
  • Coach, coordinate and lead the Project Management Officers.
  • Identify learning & development areas for team the to succeed in their roles.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews.

Requirements

Who are you?

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a cross-sectoral program management role in a multinational organization
  • Ability to think strategically for long-term vision and in terms of culture, behavior, business processes and tools, yet can meet tactical needs and tailor solutions to be fit-for-purpose and deliver quick wins
  • Transformation leadership and change management skills required including strong vision and influencing in a multi-national and cross-cultural work environment
  • Experience in working within matrix and multi-disciplinary project teams, including virtual working with teams across a number of regions
  • Ability to handle high-pressure and demanding situations
  • Outstanding people skills and ethical leadership abilities
  • Experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment
  • Thorough knowledge of project management methods, e.g. Prince2 or Agile
  • Excellent knowledge of the MS office toolset and experience in at least one project management software (e.g. MS project, Jira)
  • Advanced time management and analytical skills
  • Strong meeting facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to balance the big picture with meeting the day-to-day needs of the organization
  • Enjoys working in a dynamic multicultural environment
  • Result-oriented mindset and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

The salary range is between €4500 and €6400 gross per month for this position depending on experience.
